REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY

“To get through the hardest journey we need take

only one step at a time, but we must keep on stepping.”

Chinese proverb

Dear Friends,

Everyday we focus diligently on helping children succeed, on building strong families and on increasing financial stability. These impact areas are three building blocks for a successful life.  Each one of us wins, when a child enters school prepared to learn, or when a grandmother learns how to better manage her diabetes, or when a single mom overcomes financial peril.  Our Community wins!

While this past year witnessed the challenges of a continuing economic downturn and shrinking budgets, our United Way board, staff, volunteers and partners moved past these challenges and mobilized to address these difficult times in order to support our Community.

We would like to express our thanks to all our corporate and foundation funders.  We extend our sincere thanks to the thousands of El Pasoans whose faith in our work is measured by their contributions -- in spite of times of financial challenge. We realize that every dollar is evaluated and measured based on our impact in the community.

We would also like to extend our thanks and appreciation to all of our diverse partners—agencies, community and faith based organizations, local governments, colleges and school districts.  Together we impact our community by providing programs and services designed to create a measurable difference in El Pasoan’s lives.  We are leveraging the value of each contribution to help children excel in school, educate families on how to stay strong and connected, and guide El Pasoans on the road to financial freedom.

In our 2009 Report to the Community, we are proud to share with you the results of our collective work to help children succeed, build strong families and increase financial stability.  El Paso – we live United!
