About Us

We are your neighbors, co-workers and friends. We are a collaboration of donors, volunteers and experts - UNITED around the shared sense of purpose to improve lives and strengthen our community. Founded in 1923, United Way of El Paso County has worked bringing together donors, advocates and volunteers to help advance our work in our three impact areas: Education, Basic Needs and Income.

The mission of the United Way is to improve the lives of El Paso families through the caring power of the community we live in. And to Live United means mobilizing that power to support and, where necessary, develop programs that also address the underlying causes of the community’s needs, with the long-term goal of ending those needs.

3 Building Blocks for a Better Life:

These 3 impact areas are interrelated and critical to improving lives and charting a path out of poverty:

EDUCATION - a quality education that leads to a productive career
BASIC NEEDS - a healthy and safe environment for the whole family to thrive
INCOME - enough income to support a family though retirement

Because helping in one area impacts all of them, and that makes life better for all of us.

Core Values:

Integrity - Always tell the truth and do what you have said you will do.
Diversity - Each person's worth and differences make our community vibrant and strong through life experiences, skills or resources.
Accountability - We are responsible to our stakeholders, which include partner agencies, donors and others who have placed faith in United Way.
Leadership - We present a strong, united voice that inspires people to build a better, more self-sufficient community.
